WCR just came out with some new override trans. Also if he previously cut your's he'll take 20% off the cost of converting it so around $160.
Its called an extreme override or dunable. He claims you can backload it etc and will not hurt the forks. Also he said he'll warranty it for a full year and the forks if you have any trouble. If mines ever out it will be getting this done. Thought some may like to know if they are building a bike and wanting the best trans for it other than the $$$ billet ones. |

I personally haven't tried one. But I have talked to Greg about the New Duneable 1-5 override. And what has been said in this Thread is true imo...
But there is a point also imo that a Billet Tranny would be needed...probably starting around the 16 mil Stroke area or so...Possibly even less Stroke with some of the higher Torque setups that are comming out and as we see them show up on Asphalt we will know more later.... Maby some of the Racers that have the bigger Stroke Engines,DM, DMX,Cougars...ect... with the Bigger Bores that are out now can let us know what they are experiencing with the Tranny in their Bikes.... -------------------- 1/8th and 1/4 Mile...Keep it on the Track and Off the Streets.

i think a 16mm cheetah can still use the stock override tranny but when u talking about 16mm DM its a whole different story.. Like scary said we wont know nothing until someone has one on asphalt and really see what the deal is. Me personally I cant go by what Ron was saying about the billet b/c every time i heard him run it was something wrong and couldnt make a complete pass.

idk but from what I have read on several other sites, I have read a lot of Racers looking for other Tranny options on the larger engines. We are stuck with what we have for now.

Greg had a few of the Extremes go bad. He went back to the drawing board, and fixed the problem. They were locking up while backloading them. He's redesigned it, and Andy at M&M told me that they've tested the hell out of them. When I last spoke to Andy about them about a month ago, they've put over 80 passes on one, and backloaded it from 5th, all the way down to 1st, every pass. No failures yet. I'm planning on getting the new Extreme real soon. Just waiting, and making sure there's no more failures.

I am not going to try and stop anyone from buying as big a transmission as they can afford, but I will tell you this, we only run stock tranny's with 1-5 overrides, some dunable and some regular. When building for a new racer I always get Greg's dunable to help them with their learning curve on how to operate an override and so far haven't had a negative result.
Also, Our biggest engine to date has been a 24 twister spreadbore that only ran asphalt. Stock 1-5 tranny and had no problems with it all. Made about 25-30 passes before we sold it. The problem with the tranny's is improper clutching. Plus after building that much motor we felt it would be cheaper to possibly have to put 3 or 4 stock tranny's in than buy one at 2500 plus 300 for billet shift forks.lol -------------------- 2009 Sponsors:

The only reason I want an Extreme, is because I mostly use my bike to hillclimb and ride aggressive trails. I do hit the 1/8 mile asphalt occasionally, which is why I just joined. lol. I need some pointers. I currently have a 10mil powervalved Cheetah, that was drag ported by Andy, at M&M. I would like to get a duneable, but I'm just afraid that the trails will trash it in short time. When Greg started making the Extreme's, I wanted one, because of where I ride. Seems like the bugs have been taken care of, and I'll be getting one soon.

In my 20mm DM. I ran a WCR cryo 1-5 tranny. Use the stock 2nd gear too. I got over 140 passes on it til destroyed 4th gear.

Ron's got the proof right there, stock is good as long as you take care of it. The point is everyone races with in their own budget, so have fun.

Ron's got the proof right there, stock is good as long as you take care of it. The point is everyone races with in their own budget, so have fun. As long as you keep gears moving and don't back load it. The tranny will work for a long time. But, Once gears and shafts start wearing out. Replace them right away. I used Walmarts Type F tranny oil. I used many WCR full override 6 speed. But everytime I make a pass. It wood destroy 5th and 6th gears. Thats why I went to a cryo 1-5. Now I use the Billet 6 speed tranny. I got more passes on it than any stock cut trannys I never had. The billet 6 speed still looks brand new. Never will go back to the stock cut trannys. -------------------- 2010 Sponsors.
