I just started doing asphault drags with the quad this year.
This is from a local race here in Missouri that only does 1/8 mile drags.

60ft-2.044
ET-8.368
MPH-77.85

It's a 05 TRX 450. 2 mil overbore, 3 mil stroke, +2 intake +1 exhaust, 45 mil mikuni carb, Dasa Ex.
I doesn't have any headwork. When I was doing the motor I worked at a shop and was going to try to do it myself with my boss teaching me. So i know that I need that done and planning on it. I'm running 10x10 Hoosiers that I had used for TT. I have a +1.25 LSR swingarm. The shocks are older TT shocks that I had laying around.

Thanks for your input.

The time is really dependent on what you are trying to accomplish. As with the majority of drag racer's the time is never fast enough. I'm sure you want to improve on that time. Now you have to figure out your game plan.

Welcome to Planet Asphalt gcrooks99.

What size 10x10 tires you have??

For what motor you have. American Racer tires 19/8/10GT or 20/8/10GT in softest compound wood work great.

Click here to prices on American Racer tires at Dealer price for the atv asphalt draggers

What size sprockets you have on??

Sorry for taking so long to reply to this. The tires that I have on are 18.5x10x10 Hoosiers.

One thing that I know that I need to work on is my RT. I started launching in first gear and had some good RTs. When I started launching in second the got worse. I've been trying but just can't get them down. the reason for switching is because when I start in first I think that I have to shift to quickly, and with the swinger that I have i really have to feather the clutch so that I won't backflip. LOL

On asphalt. Always start in 1st gear. Your 60ft time is very important.

Need to change sprocket gearing. Go with more teeth on front sprocket. Less teeth on rear sprocket.

You might have to use a wheelie bar on your dragger.

What are the sprockets you have on now.??

You might want to set it up Rigid (Strut it). I assuming it is a Stock Chassie....Might want to make the Rear Strut Adjustablt so you can tinker with the Chassie Rear Geomitry. How is the Front end set up?
Are there any other Racers with a set up like yours at the Track you run at?

I have 13 36 gearing right now. I am going to a strut when I get my +6 swinger, which should be here pretty soon. I sold my enclosed and I am gettin headwork and a swinger. I might pop for a drag pipe also. I am workin on getting a guy to build a wheelie bar for me once I get the swinger. Hopefully I'll have enough left over for some front wheels and tires.

No Fast there are no racers where I'm at with a 450r. There are only 3 of us that race at the track that I found. Tried KCIR but all I could do is runon grudge night and the I paid 20 bucks for 2 runs. So I found US 36 Raceway and that's where I finished out the year. The front is +2 arms and some worn out TT shocks that I had that really put me low to the ground. Not anygood coming back down from a wheelie

Again I want to thank all of you for your input. It's really helpful

Us 36 raceway. It's just an 1/8 mile track. There are only 3 of us that are there regularly. A banshee, a 250r and me.

And also KCIR is kind of a joke really. It used to be really good all around track but now that they have to shut down at 10PM They cater to the cars quite a bit. I don't mind that one bit but the price is what gets me. On grudge night it's 20 bucks and I usually only get 2 passes. At US 36 its 15 on race day and during dial in you can run as much as you want. I ran 4 times during dial in.

Here is the link to their site
US 36 Raceway

Some Friday night you and your friends need to go racing at Rolling Thunder in Pacific Junction,Iowa.
NHRA 1/8 mile. They love atv asphalt draggers.
Rolling Thunder does alot for us.

Hog Fest in Sept. 3 days of racing.

Rolling Thunder had atv's show off during the exhibition show in July. Tedder,Nitrous Banshee,1700camaro,Tedder's son and I were the first atv asphalt draggers in the show in 2007.

Last year I did it again and had Borr1s in the show too.

Rolling Thunder is right off Highway 29. 2 hours north of Kansas City.

Here's a link to what has been posted on Rolling Thunder.

Got my Top end pulled off the bike. The EX valves were a little whiter than I would have liked but not bad. the cyl and piston looked GREAT!!!!!! Still had the crosshatch and had noscratches or anything on the piston or the cyl. Feeling really good about this. The best part is it's going to a shop that I worked for in Phoenix. So when I packed it I everything is wrapped in bubble wrap the extensively wrapped in duct tape. Then put it in a box and wrapped it in some goofy wrapping paper. LOL Can't wait to hear from the guys.
