I'm sure we have heard it all before....
Go around the Water Box, Do a Dry hop and Start from there. Go around the water box do a burn out and Start from there. Go through to Water Box do a good hot burn out and Start from there. What is best and way? When you start out with say 5 lbs of Air in your tires and you do a (Pro Street) Burn out, what happens to the Tire Air Pressure. And what is the effect on the 60' Time? If any.... I've been watching the Vids at the Top of the page, this is what brought these questions to mind. -------------------- 1/8th and 1/4 Mile...Keep it on the Track and Off the Streets.

This will probably make a hotter than a burnout discussion! Yes, I have my opinion. I just don't have time right now. Off to PT; it's a full time job.

I've been watching the Vids at the Top of the page, this is what brought these questions to mind. What is the best way? It's kind of like everything else. You need to find what works for you and your combination. The PR guys are all doing burnouts. You should be paying attention, because they are doing something right!!! This is how I look at race related items. Study the best and pay no never mind to everyone else. If you are trying to go fast, study the fastest. For us all we care about mainly, is winning. So, I focus on/try to race the best and learn from it. Our personal experience with burnouts. We tried it 3 times and experienced a bog every time. That told me we were getting more bite and needed a different clutch set-up. Will equate to quicker times? I need to evaluate further to find out. As for the air preesure, I personally wouldn't drop below 5 pounds. That's purely for safety reasons IMO. |

On the Tire Pressue aspect I was wondering if anyone had put 5 PSI in and done a "Pro Street" Burn out made a Pass and then checked the Tire Pressure to see what the heat did to it.....
I'm going to look at that next time I go to the Track. And I agree duplicate what seems to work, and yes the Pr guys are quick, thats what I am looking at. I also experienced the bog, but I'm going to make changes this year to try to get around it. -------------------- 1/8th and 1/4 Mile...Keep it on the Track and Off the Streets.

I did a full burnout when i had my hoosiers on and i damn near bogged afterwards almost 75% of the time. I know u should adjust how u leave after the burnout but it sometimes still dont work. When i changed over to the AR and no burnout, I didnt bog nearly as much. Texas raceway hooks hard, so its hard to be consistant after a burnout on our track.

The clutch gets too hot during a burn out.

I do as well.
No water box and no burnout. That seems to work better for me. Borr1s -------------------- Skidoo MACH Z Prostock 1000 snomo powered ATV. Custom chromoly +7 frame based on a Honda 250R platform. +7 custom swingarm. Marvin Shaw front shocks, strutted rear.

I usually avoid the water if possible ?
Then give it a good, hard dry hop type launch before getting up to the staging lights. I run the lowest air pressure I can get by with................ |

If you are worried about how heat will affect tire pressure. It's pretty simple, use nitrogen in the tires. The temp will still rise, but not even close to the traditional way. |

Hmmm. I've thought of that in Car Tires but never thought about it in Drag Tires...Good idea though..I still wonder how much the pressure goes up after a burn out...lol

4 LBS.
Rim and tire size plays a part into the pressure I have ran as well. PROBABLY NOT SAFE AND I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE. Just to be clear. |

Only ran 1/8 mile with that psi, and NOT over 110 mph. Tires were really probably to big for the rim they were on. So that may be how I was able to get away with it. With the american racer tires. I usually stay around the 5 psi area somewhat. LOL This post has been edited by Nitrous Banshee: Mar 18 2010, 05:48 AM |
